It’s a small cable-stayed type of suspension bridge, and has a reputation for being a little bouncy when it gets a certain resonance!

Despite an abundance of muggles, we were determined to find this but unfortunately we left empty-handed after an awkward 15 minute hunt in all the little holes and not finding the cache. Even despite reading the hint, and looking in so many of the apparent places, it just didn’t want to make itself known to us today.

TeamWolfie had to walk away from this one today. But we’ll be back for another go soon.

Mooney Valley Micro was to be our third and final hunt for the day, and another excellent location had been selected for this cache by “SUBYDAZZ”.

Tens of thousands of people in cars, busses and trucks traverse over the top of this valley every day on the F3 Freeway, many not taking the time to appreciate the vast valley below them, or the amazing piece of infrastructure they are crossing.

Getting to this location requires a trip down the Old Pacific Highway – and due to it’s temporary closure at the Gosford end, will also require a little back-tracking (whichever way you come from). Be sure to use the Calga exit.

Not up there, Wolfie!

TeamWolfie had previously visited this location without luck. It was in fact our very first seek after being inducted into the world of geocaching, but we had no luck here on that first day.

Now armed with some more skill and experience, and a sharper nose for clues we revisited this site – keen to catch another cache, and sure enough – with some persistence and knowing what to look for, we came up trumps and left our customary trademarks.

Although the word “micro” is used in the description, be aware this cache is actually in the “small” category, so don’t let that confuse you – though when compared with the bridge above, everything down here (including ourselves) seems to be micro sized.

That’s three-out-of-three this afternoon. Enough caching for today, but rest assured we’ll be back very soon to hunt down some more.

TeamWolfie had some time to kill down around the Hawkesbury River this afternoon. We enjoyed a great lunch at the Angler’s Rest Hotel, Brooklyn, so what better way to top off a sunny spring afternoon than to do a little caching on the way home.

Our first stop is a cache called simply 1 of 3 - the unusual name being reference to the 3 bridges spanning the Hawkesbury River in this region.

Without wanting to give too much away, we found this micro cache after a brief search. It was bright and sunny, and the cache was hiding in the shadows. We actually walked past and checked the spot 3 times – which goes to show that stuff in shadows can be deceptive. It’s a beautiful location, and the vehicular traffic and muggle activity on this bridge is much quieter compared to the adjacent freeway bridge.

Wolfie sniffs around for the 1 of 3 Cache

TeamWolfie signed the log and left our customary markings. It’s always nice having a great excuse to visit these interesting and unique locations. TFTC.
