This being a medium size cache, located in parkland in the suburb of San Remo.

It’s a nice walk along the water’s edge and then across a large open sports field to get to this cache, alternatively there is a shortcut if you park in the obvious place – but I do recommend the longer, more scenic route.

With the aid of the hint, we quickly spotted the cache and carried out the TeamWolfie caching rituals.

Thanks for another Monopoly hide – we’re really enjoying these.

My work as a train driver is unique, in that it often gives me some spare downtime to go geocaching. Being based in central Sydney, I’m pretty much always guaranteed there will be some caches within walking distance.

Today I made my way over to Electric Harmony (GCZE72) and found this urban micro by Us Mob reasonably quickly. The key to these I guess is timing – early Sunday morning is a great time to go to those usually busy places to pick up cache and avoid the muggles.

TeamWolfie strikes again in inner Sydney

Thanks for the cache. I quite enjoy the challenge of these urban micros.

Woodbury’s Inn (GCRVE2) is a geocache by Shifter Brains located at a historic site located just to the west of Wyong township. The plaque on the monument here provides an excellent description of what Woodbury’s Inn was – the monument itself being located in the middle of the foundations of what little remains of this building.

It’s a popular park on weekends – it seems to be a popular picnic place, as well as a convenient meeting place for groups before they set off on adventures and tours in the nearby forest or country side. For this reason, it can be hard to get this park all to yourself. This was in fact the fourth time we had driven past here – every other time, the park being busy with muggles.

This micro-cache took a bit of hunting to find. We’d already looked in the right spot, but obviously just not hard enough. Then we looked elsewhere, but ended up back at the first place we searched – this time searching a little harder and prodding a little deeper, and at another angle.

Braving the spider webs, I got my fingers rattling on something that felt like it could be something unusual. The issue then was getting the damned thing out. I wiggled it and wriggled it, and poked it and prodded it. Finally I got it at the right angle to come out of its very well concealed place.

Signed the log, and returned the cache. So pleased with ourselves, that we totally forgot to take a photo to commemorate the find – so you’ll just have to use your imagination – picture a stuffed toy dog, sitting in a park having a picnic, and you’ll get the idea.

Thanks again Shifter Brians for another of your clever caches.

It was Monday morning, I had the day off. With 37 cache finds under our belt it was time to see if I could hit the big 40 by lunchtime. Wolfie Ben would be caching solo today, so technically it’s twice as hard with only half the eyes looking for the prize.

I set a plan of attack – two easy looking ones, and a 2nd attempt at one with a 4-star difficulty rating.

The first was Time and Tide (GCR7VG) – another of the Shifter Brains caches located in a waterside park at Point Clare. As a railway worker I normally travel right by here on the train many times each week, but I didn’t realise what a peaceful and pleasant place this is. Apparently it gets very busy with muggles on weekends, so I figured Monday morning should be relatively quiet.

Looking toward Gosford township

Looking southbound along waterfront

The waterside roadway took us to a carpark within metres of Ground Zero. The trick was to wait for a break in the muggle activity – even on a Monday morning there is an intermittent parade of people – young, old, walking, cycling, etc… I checked out a few places among the trees and eventually spotted it just as an older lady approached. Time to look sweet and innocent… until she passes.

It wasn’t long and I had my hands on the small cache at 0955 hours. The log book and treasures were packed in rather right, yet in good and dry condition.

Sniffed Out Time & Tide

After taking the picture I signed the log and made a swap – took a dice, left a red gem. A nice, discrete, and safe find in a relaxing location.
